THE ROLE
I am seeking a PRINCIPAL ECOLOGIST to join my client, a firm of multi disciplinary consulting engineers in Manchester.
You will become a senior and valued member of the Ecology team responsible for the leadership and day to day management of the team of ecologists and be responsible for the efficient and thorough completion of projects and development of the ecology department.
Duties will be varied including ecological surveys for Phase 1 habitats, site assessments for protected species, initial inspections for bats and follow-up surveys of activity, great crested newts using standard techniques.
You will interpret survey data, manage staff, delivery presentations etc.

Our client is a successful firm of consulting engineers and property specialists working on projects across a number of different sectors.
They are a large firm with offices across the U.K.
THE CANDIDATE
You will need to have a Degree in Ecology and have or be eligible for full membership of CIEEM.
You must have understanding of and experience in Phase 1 Habitat, NVC and other botanical surveys plus experience of protected species surveys and be a holder of relevant licences particularly for Class 2 Bat and / or Great Crested Newt licences.
You should have experience of designing mitigations schemes.
You must have knowledge of current wildlife and conservation legislation and knowledge and awareness of planning process and policy etc.
A full and clean UK / EEC driving licence is required.
Salary is in the region of £40000 to £50000 plus car allowance, pension and many other benefits.
